The 7-Step OEM Wetsuit Process

Step 1: Design & Specifications (Week 1)

Everything starts with your product spec. You provide (or we help you create):

Deliverable: A signed specification sheet locking all details before sampling.

Tip: If you don't have a design, send us a reference wetsuit (a competitor's suit you like) and we'll create a technical spec based on it. This is the most common starting point for new brands.

Step 2: Sampling (Weeks 2–3)

Our pattern makers create a paper pattern from your spec and our sample room produces a first sample (proto sample). This is a fully functional wetsuit in your specified size (usually M for men's, S for women's).

What the sample includes: - Correct neoprene thickness and material - Correct colors (as close as available neoprene allows) - Correct panel design and stitching - Your logo applied (print or embroidery) - Correct hardware (zipper, pull tab)

What might differ from final production: - Exact color matching may require a custom neoprene dye lot (arranged for production) - Lining fabric pattern might use a similar stock option - Minor adjustments to fit based on your feedback

Sampling cost: $150–$300 per style (includes one round of modifications). This fee is credited toward your production order.

Timeline: 7–10 business days from spec confirmation.

Step 3: Sample Review & Approval (Week 3)

You receive the proto sample and evaluate:

• Fit: Try on the sample (or compare to your size standard)
• Appearance: Color, panel design, logo placement
• Function: Stretch, ease of donning, zipper operation
• Construction: Stitching quality, seam smoothness

You provide feedback: We make adjustments (fit tweaks, logo size, color changes) and produce a revised sample if needed. Most projects require 1–2 sample rounds.

Approval: Once you're satisfied, you sign off on the sample as the golden sample — the production standard. All production suits must match this sample.

Step 4: Material Sourcing & Preparation (Week 4)

Once the sample is approved, we source all materials for your production run:

• Neoprene: Ordered from Yamamoto/Sheico/domestic supplier (lead time: 7–14 days depending on source)
• Lining fabric: Ordered from textile mill (color-matched to your Pantone)
• Hardware: YKK zippers, pull tabs, cordage
• Branding materials: Logo print screens, embroidery files, woven label production
• Packaging: Poly bags, boxes, hangtags printed

Custom color neoprene requires a minimum order from the neoprene mill (usually 500kg–1000kg). If your order is smaller, we may suggest the closest stock color to avoid mill minimums.

Step 5: Production (Weeks 5–7)

Production follows a strict sequence:

1. Neoprene cutting (2–3 days): Computer-guided cutting machines cut all panels
2. Printing/embroidery (2–3 days): Logos applied to panels before stitching
3. Gluing (3–5 days): Panels edge-glued by hand for GBS seams
4. Stitching (5–7 days): Blind stitching on JUKI machines, then taping/liquid sealing
5. Hardware installation (1–2 days): Zippers, cordage, labels
6. Final assembly (1–2 days): Quality checks between each step

Production capacity: Our factory produces 2,000–3,000 wetsuits per month. For orders over 5,000 pieces, production is scheduled across 4–6 weeks.

Step 6: Quality Control (Week 7)

Every wetsuit goes through a multi-point QC inspection before packing:
